Yayoihime is Gunma Prefecture’s original strawberry variety. Gunma makes efforts to scientifically prove the deliciousness of its agricultural products and has shown that Yayoihime is richer, sweeter, and less tart when compared to other popular Japanese varieties. Each strawberry is also larger than other varieties, offering a mouthful of satisfaction.
The quality of strawberries typically falls around March when temperatures rise, but Yayoihime maintain their quality and deliciousness even after March.
In addition to trying Yayoihime during strawberry picking season from December through May, you can also find them on sale at farmers’ markets throughout the prefecture. See the websites below for information on strawberry farms in Gunma.
