Kusatsu Onsen

Akagi Onsen Area

Maebashi, Akagi, Kiryu, Ota, Tatebayashi Area

The Akagi Onsen Area is located on the southern slopes of Mt. Akagi-yama at 700 to 900 meters in elevation and features five small lodges.
The benefits of the hot spring are discussed in ancient Nara Period texts with the words, “there is a sacred spring on Mt. Akagi-yama where sick and injured animals gather.” Even today this small onsen area is known as the medicinal waters of Joshu thanks to those who protect hot springs.
Surrounded by mountains, these small lodges allow visitors to be enveloped in the nature of Mt. Akagi-yama and enjoy the changing scenery of the four seasons.
