Oze, one of the largest highland marsh in Japan, holds the beautiful scenery of alpine plants changing its color in autumn. Once grasses in Ozegahara change its color into yellow, visitors can enjoy yellowish autumnal leaves of beeches, Betula ermani and so on during the season.
Autumnal leaves around Mt. Tanigawadake starts from early October at the top of the mountain and gradually shifts to Tenjindaira and ropeway. The scenery of precipitous cliff with red and yellow leaves around is a must-see.
The best time for the autumnal foliage at Onuma and Kakumanbuchi, located at the foot of the mountain, is around mid-October. The color of autumnal leaves around Onuma, Konuma and Kakumanbuchi is bright as the temperature difference in the area is extreme.
Lake Okushima which is located in the deepest area of Shima Onsen is the reservoir of Shimagawa Dam. The highlight of this spot is a wonderful contrast of cobalt-blue-colored lake water and autumnal foliage around the dam.
From late October through early November, beautiful autumnl leaves can be enjoyed around the waterfalls. The scenery of magnificent waterfalls and autumn leaves in vivid color decorating around the falls is a must see.
Kajika Bridge is build over the river near the source of Ikaho Onsen and also well-known for the spot of autumnal foliage. Druing the season the foliage are lit up and fantastic autumnal foliage of the night can be enjoyed.
This gorge located on Agatsuma River holds wonderful scenery which is created by strangely shaped rocks and autumnal foliage of trees on both banks.
Starting in late October, you can enjoy the vivid colors of the fall leaves centered around the Japanese Garden. There will also be special lighting after sundown. In mid-November, seven thousand winter cherry trees will begin to bloom.
This pass is located at 1,088 meters near the midpoint of the road that connects Kusatsu Onsen and Sawatari Onsen. The area features a monument to the famous poet from the Taisho Era Bokusui Wakayama. The pass boasts beautiful fall colors in late October.
Mt. Myogisan is one of Japan's three scenic spots. Red and yellow color of foliage glow on strangely shaped rocks.
This is the gorge spreading at the middle reaches of Watarase River and beautiful autumnal foliage can be enjoyed from close up.
The Hanadaka Flower-Viewing Hill is located in the western area of downtown Takasaki, where visitors can get a view overlooking the entire city. Not only does it provide an amazing view of the three major mountains of Jomo, but also offers an array of colorful flowers throughout the year. In autumn, 400,000 cosmos flowers in four varieties will see peak blossoms.
The Fukiage area in Kasakake-cho of Midori City will see around 120,000 sunflowers bloom from late September through mid-October. Local residents will hold the Sunflower Garden Festival while the flowers are in bloom. Expect to find a farmers' market with fresh vegetables, as well as a variety of other attractions.
During the flowering time of about 7,000 roses in the park, sale of rose grown in the city and other various kinds of events are organized.
Near the Otorii gate at Koizumi Inari Shrine, cosmos fields spread out over about 11 hectares of land with nearly twelve million flowers blooming and bringing large crowds of visitors.
About 1,300 pots of chrysanthemum in various ways of display including "Bonyo-giku", "Bonsai-giku", "Kengai-giku" and "Ozukuri-giku" are set to be displayed at the venue. Especially, chrysanthemum doll which has different theme in every year is a sight to see.
Around seven thousand winter cherry trees will decorate the park in the fall from mid-November through early December. There will also be special lighting at night that will illuminate the perfect fall colors around the Japanese Garden from late October through November.
This is an art event which make the whole town of Nakanojo into the art museum held biannually. Modern artworks are displayed across the town.
This festival includes the parade of traditional "Taru Mikoshi (portable shrine made out of barrel)" and usual portable shrines going up and down Stone Steps, which can be seen only at this traditional onsen resort. Also other events, such as the parade of drawing onsen water, distribution ceremony of onsen water and Taru Mikoshi carried by children, are held.
Gorgeous fireworks with mainly starmine fireworks and fireworks with fireworks balls of 120 cm across at most are launched.
This is the "Fox's Wedding" held in the castle town of Minowa. The wedding ceremony passed down the generations in the Takasaki City Misato area is portrayed in a fox's wedding and people made up to look like foxes march along in a parade.
Over 1,000,000 lights of illumination decorates the park fantastically.
